The Och Well

Och Wells are hard to find as they are small (about the size of a chair) and their roofs are camouflaged in the plants of the surrounding landscape. No one is sure who made them but if Humans know of an Och Well’s location, they tend to look after them out of respect for the original builders.
The three main parts of the well spell out the word ‘Och’ (‘O’ from the stone wall, the ‘C’ shaped roof and the ‘H’ frame between the other two structures).
Och Wells symbolise the main elements of the forest :- Stone (the wall), Wood (the ‘H’ frame), Earth and Plants (the roof) and Water (in the well).

Why go to an Och Well?
It is for issues in your life that either you can do nothing about or that you have to face no matter what you do about them. By saying your problem ‘out loud’ it won’t change the situation but it can sometimes feel a little better to get the weight off your shoulders … for a while at least.
What do you do at an Och Well?
Once you have found an Och Well, you say your wish and throw a penny into the Well. Then let out a BIG sigh, shrug your shoulders and say the phrase ‘Och well… !’ whilst walking away and leaving the rest to Fate
